I bumped into the following article about the internet and books: The Internet Ruined Literature. The argument is that the internet has NOT ruined reading. Only 25% of the public was reading post WWII. The reason our "memory" of a literate society exists is hypothesized that only that 25% had a media voice. Interesting. Today--any idiot can participate--this blog is proof.
Perhaps things are not as bad as we want to over-dramatize. Then again--it IS job security for me (a teacher!).
