Tangerine

The novels I taught and will teach this school year were predetermined by the previous teacher.  Like so many school districts, funds are tight.  We make do with what we have.  The novel we just finished, Tangerine, has been just about every students favorite book to date.  Edward Bloor's website is as follows:  Edward Bloor.

I predict that approximately 75% of my students participated in either a soccer or football game in the past year.  Though this is not a "sports book," this element drew some of my non-readers into the novel quickly.  We had many great discussions about bullying, disabilities vs. abilities, nature, and "what-would-you-do?"
